UPDATE - I have started Ellie back under saddle and everything is going very well. She is relaxed and easy to work with.

Ellie is a wonderfully athletic mare with a willing disposition and great temperament. She retired sound from racing in May of 2007. She was still competitive, but the trainer wanted to find her a good home before she ended up broken. I bought her to breed, so I did not worry about doing any transitional training and she has not been ridden since she retired.
She had a gorgeous colt by Sempatico M in 2008 (pictured above) who was registered with German Oldenburg Verband and sold to a buyer in Texas. He is extremely well-mannered and easy to work around, his new owner could not be more pleased with him. The shippers even labeled him "the most well behaved colt they have ever worked with". She caught and foaled easily and was an excellent mother. Due to circumstances beyond our control, she did not get in foal for 2009, she is currently open. Ellie is in the Main Mare Book for GOV.
In addition to her uses as a broodmare, Ellie also has great promise as a show horse. She is a fancy hunter-type mover who naturally carries herself through her topline. I have worked her on the lunge with side reins in the past and she has always been very willing. She is 100% sound and sane. She stands well for the farrier and vet, she breeds with no sedation.
